A news package is all based on a specific story that is important, usually starts off with a live introduction then it would caryr onto interviews and other archive footage about the subject. They are very serious stories that would be helpful for the viewers and may affect some poeples lives, and educational becuase people know whats goin on around the world.
The news package I have picked is Gadaffi's Death:
Field reporters: In this video there is a feild reporter dressed in a suit all the time as he is always on location in the places that the situation or something that is going to take place however he would not havr to put on soomething different for example an army outfit if he was going out into iran or Libya, as he is a local feild reporter also he is in an safe environment. Also as you can see in the second screen grab he is stnading next to an EDF energy post even though he is on location of where the foootball match is going to take place he stands next to a energy brand this is also advertising and expanding brand awareness.
Links to studio: Through out the clip would have at the bottom of the screen, whee about this is taking place and what is happening. that is the only link to the studio becuase they have to edit it to let the viewers know what is going on and why. Most of the footage been recorded are off peolpe phones on their video camera's as it has happend all of a sudden the media people where not prepared so using archive footage pff people's phones and youtube gives a better view of what has happend because having poor handheld camera and poor lighting,sound, this makes it seem more realistic and captres your emotions more becuase it's real.
Mode of Address to viewer: The tone of the persons voice that is doing the voice over is very serioud becuase this is a serious matter and concerns a lot of people around the world. Also this gives the audience a idea of how serious this situation is and how to undertake it. The accent is a very clear normal english accent so all viewers can understand what is going on, if they had a strong scottish accent but did not pro-nounce the words clearly the audience would be confused in what is being said. Also the person that is doing the voice over must be an expert/fact provider becuase they have to know what they are talking about in the voice -over and have to let the audience know what is exactly going on, why they are doing this and what it could lead to.
Interviwing Experts and witnesses: As you can see in the second clip the presenter is interviewing an expert about what has happend as he is analyisng the situation and what could happen to other leaders and the future. while he is interviewing the expert there is archive footage shown in the background so the audience knows what he is talking about. They have put the presenter and the archive footage on a bigger view screen because that is the main point of the topic, they have got the expert in a little box in a corner small enough to see the footage but however big enough so you can still see him. exmaple from the clip:
Report Structure: There is alot of archive footage as i have mentioned before in feild reporters, it would be too dangeous for the presenter to go onto the actual location also they would not have that much time to have everything prepared and set up for filiming, using archive footage is very helpful becuase it gives you more of an udnerstanding and a better view of how the vitim feels and the people that are beating gadaffi up.
all of the fact communication is done by voice over beucase they footage is long and gives alot of information doing two things at once would help get the message across more clearer becuase he is astating facts while the video is showing them. there isnt any presence of the presenter so the camera cant use the 'noddy' techique in this clip.
Actuality Footage: They have the cources in ths clips frm youtube and off of people phones that were there and commiting this crime. they have used this fotoage to give a viewer a more of a wider variety of thoughts and emotiong for themselves to understand the story better. most of this clip is mainly the archive fotoage becuase they want to show as mch as they can get (so much as possible), also they have used this in the clip for more of an udnerstanding and getting acrosss to the viewer.
